While driving back home from a birthday party, I came upon a vehicle accident that blocked the westbound side of the highway. It looked like a fresh accident, as we followed a fire truck on the way there from the immediately prior entrance ramp. We spent maybe 20 minutes waiting for the police, fire, EMT, and tow truck crews there to clear the scene before the police had everyone waiting there to turn around and detour back through the previous entrance ramp.
So, not that I planned to do it someday, but now I can cross off
having driven the wrong way on a limited-access divided highway.

That sounds both frustrating and mildly amusing. You could always just travel to jolly old England.

It didn’
t seem
frustrating at all, partly because I knew and could see
what was going on ahead (I got within maybe 200 yards of the accident) and partly because I had no reason to hurry back home. It certainly kept my son entertained.

I just got flagged down by a guy who rolled his car off the 89 just north of Kanab, UT. Thing was completely crushed. I saw him waving a flashlight around and drove about an 1/8 mile before stopping. He ran towards me and started yelling asking if I was the police. Told him no, but that my dog didn’t like people so he needed to stay where he was at. He asked if I could drive him up to the top of the hill so he could call his brother (there was no cell service). I told him to go back and sit with his car and I’d get him help. I had to drive about a mile before I had service. The dispatcher I talked to seemed very competent so hopefully the guy is ok. Not a fucking chance I’m letting anyone get near me when I’m by myself in the middle of nowhere.
